An Anxiety Toolbox?!

Let’s develop our anxiety toolbox together:

Left right human brain concept. Creative part and logic part with social and business doodle isolated on white background. You can be more creative when you are less anxious.

Our sessions will always be practical and interactive. You will have opportunities to practice the tools during the session so that it is easier to use them when anxiety strikes.

This is one of the sessions in our new offering “Your personal stress management smorgasbord” More details here. We would like to put the power back into your hands and give you agency to tailor-make a stress and anxiety management package that really works for you. You do not need to feel overwhelmed by anxiety – there are changes you can make in your area of influence. Every Wednesday in October from 19:30 – 20:45 we will be facilitating a different topic online. You decide what you  need and when and whether you would like another session. You give yourself time to apply your learnings, implement change and control the amount of new information you are exposed to. Every month our offering will change slightly, so do check in to see what’s been added.

The ticking time bomb!

Ticking time of an old fashioned pocket watchAm I controlling time or is time controlling me?! Ticking time increases pressure…
As we hear the clock ticking we are often more aware of the passing of time and not able to focus on the task at hand. What is your relationship with time? We will reflect on our perceptions of how we use our time and analyse our beliefs about time. We will also explore some practical ideas for time management to reduce the effect of ticking time pressure.

Healthy Habits?!

Can I really change my habits? Remember all those failed new year resolutions that did not make it through January? We will evaluate our current habits, both good and bad, discuss what often leads to failure to change and explore how we can build on the good and develop healthy habits for self-care of body, mind and soul.

Pick ‘n Mix Stress Management

Does the idea of doing a whole day stress management course feel stressful in itself? Like the last thing you actually have the time for?

Although we can see the benefit in a break from daily routine, we realise that it is difficult to find the time for a whole day course. Most of us feel stressed at the thought of organising our responsibilities to free up an entire day. Let’s not talk about finding the money and the added financial pressure! We recognise that we may feel refreshed after a day in nature, but it can feel overwhelming to face all the challenging changes to develop the new “stress-free me” afterwards.  This inadvertently becomes a new source of stress. We feel stuck in the stress spiral.

With our new offering “Pick ‘n Mix Stress Management” we would like to put the power back into your hands.

Needing a change?

You may have realised that you want something to change in your life – it may be a change in daily routine or something as big as a change in career. You may not have worked out the details. You just feel that something is not quite right.

Join us for this Think Tank to think and talk thru what it is you want to change, what you would like to experience in its place, and some brainstorming around where to start. Let’s openly discuss, encourage, support and share ideas with one another.

Stop the bus – who and where am I?

We tend to follow the expected trajectory of our lives, without too much thought. We go to school, train for a job, develop our careers, work most days, date, find a life partner (or not), decide to have kids (or not)…and then one day, we look back on our lives and perhaps realise we are not where we thought we would be. Perhaps we are not even who we thought we would be.

This interactive talk will give us the opportunity to pause and reflect about who we have become, where we are and whether we are on the right bus…

Join Khanyi and Vera as they share some of their experiences with changing direction (or getting on a different bus).

Choosing agency

by Khanyi & Vera

Everyone has the right to call themselves a victim at this historical moment – a victim of the fallout around Covid, to a smaller or larger extent. So much has happened in the last year that is unrelated to any action on our part, that feels like it is beyond our control. Admittedly, the pandemic has affected us to different degrees, but all our lives have been changed.

Everyone has the right to call themselves a victim, but not everyone chooses to label themselves that way. Many could choose to call themselves victims given their circumstances and experiences, but not everyone subscribes to the stereotype. What are the perceived benefits to seeing ourselves as the victim in a situation? Is it worth the fight for first place? Is there a hierarchy of victimhood and an overall victim victor? What do we lose when we shake off the label?

Doing things differently…

As some previously bizarre things have become part of our new normal due to circumstances beyond our control, let’s not give in to the idea that we have lost all agency. Let’s give the concept of voluntarily doing things differently some thought.

As I wrote last time, I have been putting some time and effort into establishing an outside office in my garden, where I can comfortably work and safely see coachees with social distancing protocols in place. I also decided to look beyond our property for other outside options, and have discovered some beautiful spots that can work a little further afield – ideal for walking, thinking and talking at the same time.
